Poll: Romney Has Edge In Wis. Over Santorum

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — As the Republican candidates for president begin paying more attention to Wisconsin, a new poll shows front-runner Mitt Romney slightly ahead of challenger Rick Santorum.

The Marquette Law School poll released Tuesday shows Romney with 39 percent support versus 31 percent for Santorum. The margin of error was 5.4 percent.

Romney has yet to campaign in Wisconsin and isn't slated to be in the state until an event Saturday in Waukesha.

Santorum made a series of stops across the state over the weekend and was back in Wisconsin campaigning on Tuesday a week before the primary.

The telephone poll of 349 likely Republican voters was conducted Thursday through Sunday.

It shows Ron Paul with 11 percent support and Newt Gingrich with 5 percent. Twelve percent were undecided.
