Cops Find 268 Pounds Of Marijuana At Drug Bust

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 44-year-old Brooklyn Park man was arrested Tuesday after police seized 268 pounds of marijuana in a drug bust, according to charges filed Thursday in Hennepin County Court.

Ramiro Trevizo-Frias was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and commission of a crime while wearing or possessing a bullet proof vest in connection with the incident.

According to a complaint, officers learned through an informant that a large marijuana operation was going on at residences in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park. The informant told police that the group had just received a large amount of marijuana and was looking for customers.

Authorities tracked Trevizo-Frias through the informant to residences on the 3100 block of 13th Avenue South in Minneapolis and the 3200 block of 74th Avenue South in Brooklyn Park.

Authorities also tracked Mariano Saturino-Reyes through a series of controlled buys where they obtained his license plate identification.

On Tuesday morning, authorities executed a search warrant on Saturino-Reyes's vehicle. They found two pounds of marijuana in a grocery bag and nine pounds of marijuana wrapped up in roofing paper, the complaint states.

Police were led later on Tuesday to the Brooklyn Park home, where they found a nine plant marijuana-growing operation and several tools used to make the drug. They also found three loaded handguns, ammunition, holsters and a bullet proof vest, according to the complaint.

Authorities were also led to a storage facility in Minneapolis, where they recovered about 171 pounds of marijuana inside 19 rolls of roofing paper. Police also found 77 pounds of marijuana inside the Brooklyn Park home.

During a search of Trevizo-Frias, police recovered about $5,337 in cash. In total, authorities seized about 268 pounds of marijuana in the bust.

If convicted, Trevizo-Frias faces up to 35 years in prison and more than $1,000,000 in fines.
