MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Newt Gingrich is set to stop in northeastern Wisconsin as he tries to resuscitate his flagging presidential campaign ahead of the state’s primary next week.
Gingrich plans to attend a noon rally Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, visit his Green Bay campaign office and attend a late-afternoon rally at a Green Bay restaurant.
Wisconsin’s presidential primary is set for Tuesday.
But Gingrich is struggling. He has won just two primaries, in South Carolina and Georgia, and has laid off a third of his campaign staff.
He has adopted a new strategy that calls for spending less time in primary states and more time trying to persuade delegates to back him at the Republican National Convention.
