MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A local chef won $10,000 and bragging rights at the Mall of America this weekend.

Chef Doug Flicker of Piccolo earned the over-sized check after he won the Minnesota Monthly Local Chef Challenge Sunday.

The event took place over the weekend, and the final round pitted Flicker against chef Jack Riebel of Butcher and the Boar. Flicker won with a floating island desert.

Jason DeRusha was one of the judges along with food blogger Stephanie Meyer and LeCordon Bleu chef Jason Ross.

During the competition, the chefs had to use surprise ingredient like buffalo liver and veal brains.
