Fatal Head-On Crash In Polk County

DRESSER, Wis. (WCCO) -- A man died when the truck he was driving crossed the center line of a Wisconsin highway and struck a semi head-on Monday morning, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Polk County Sheriff Pete Johnson says at 10:37 a.m., deputies responded to this accident on Wisconsin State Highway 35, just north of Clark Road in the Village of Dresser.

An investigation revealed that a 2004 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a 53-foot trailer was traveling southbound on State Highway 35 when a northbound 2002 Ford Ranger pickup drove left of the center line into the semi's path. When they collided, the Ford was sent into the west ditch, while the semi came to rest in the east ditch.

The driver of the semi, identified as Devin W. Curley, 26, of Bryon, Minn. was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Ford Ranger was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

The crash remains under investigation.
