Dave Matthews Band, Tool To Headline River's Edge Fest

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Dave Matthews Band and Tool will headline the first ever River's Edge Festival, slated for Harriet Island in June.

The announcement was made Thursday, ensuring all music fans that Harriet Island will continue to be a rocking spot.

The former home of Taste of Minnesota and Riverfest now has the hopes of turning this new two-day music festival into an annual big-ticket festival.

Beyond the headliners, this year's line-up includes The Flaming Lips, Brand New, Polica, Motion City Soundtrack, Puscifer, Coheed & Cambria, Diplo, Scissor Sisters, Datsik, MuteMath, Delta Spirit, Blaqstarr, Kinky, Mexican Institute of Sound, Civil Twilight, Quietdrive, An Horse, Gardens & Villa, AM & Shawn Lee, The Whigs, Hey Rosetta!, K-Flay, Yawn, Kids These Days, Yuna and The Rope.

The festival takes place June 23-24 on Harriet Island and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13. Two-day tickets will be offered for $99, plus service fees, until Friday, April 20. Tickets can be purchased at RiversEdgeMusicFestival.com, Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.

Coupled with the love that Twin Cities residents have for the outdoors, Live Nation promoters believe a two-day festival will work well at Harriet Island. One of the great things, they say, about the area is where it's located. Harriet Island has a great view of downtown St. Paul, and there's plenty of natural beauty, too. Organizers expect a capacity crowd each day of 40,000.

"Given the level of talent that we have, and given the fact they have sold out the arenas in this town, it seems more likely that we will have to cut off ticket sales," said a Live Nation representative.

According to the promoter, a Dave Matthews Band ticket goes for $60. A Tool concert ticket costs about the same. So, organizers believe that those who will attend this festival will get a deal at $99 dollars.
