Man, 84, Saved From Sinking Truck In Western Minn.

TYSON LAKE (WCCO) -- An 84-year-old man's life was saved in a dramatic rescue in western Minnesota.

On Tuesday afternoon, Harlan Schwerin crashed his pick-up truck into Tyson Lake in Yellow Medicine County.

Soon after, a passerby, identified as 23-year-old Evan Wintz of Clarkfield, Minn., pulled the man from his pick-up truck as it sank.

Authorities say Schwerin and Wintz were in the cold water for over 20 minutes, but both are OK.

Harlan says he plans to do something special for Wintz when everything calms down.

Harlan and his family also would like to thank first responders, firefighters, ambulance crew and everyone else who stopped by to help in the rescue.
