Funeral Held For Baby Angel

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Final goodbyes were given Saturday to the baby found in the Mississippi River on Labor Day.

The funeral for Baby Angel – who got the name after she was found with angel figurines -- was held at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Winona.

The seven pound baby was found near Homer, wrapped in a green T-shirt and inside a canvas tote bag.

The Forst family, which is from Winona, found the baby while boating. They attended the funeral.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster for our family and, I think, also for the community of Winona," Sharon Forst said.

Forst said she was blessed to hold the baby in her arms.

Investigators are still trying to locate the parents six months after Baby Angel was found.
