Minn. Theater To Stage 'Xanadu' Midwest Premiere
CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) — Grab your roller skates. Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is producing the Midwest premiere of the musical "Xanadu."
The show will run from June through September on Chanhassen's main stage. A week of preview performances will be held June 1-7, with opening night June 8.
Based on the 1980 cult movie starring Olivia Newton-John, "Xanadu" tells the story of a Greek muse sent to Earth to inspire an artist to create the first roller disco.
"Xanadu" opened on Broadway in 2007 and was nominated for a Tony for best musical. Douglas Carter Beane won a Drama Desk Award for his book of the musical.
Chanhassen will perform "Xanadu" eight times weekly. Evening performances will be held Tuesdays through Sundays and matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
