Minn. Legislator Finds ND Capitol Lacking

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota legislator trying to build support to restore the state's crumbling Capitol took a shot at North Dakota in doing so.

House Majority Leader Matt Dean was speaking on the floor Thursday during debate on setting aside money to repair the building in St. Paul. Dean, who has worked as an architect, says he has often compared other state Capitols to Minnesota's as he traveled.

He then singled out the one in Bismarck, joking that "It's like State Farm Insurance called, they want their office building back."

Dean said afterward he was actually taking a shot at fellow Republican and House Speaker Kurt Zellers, who was raised in Devils Lake, N.D.

The measure failed by one vote.
