Woman Charged With Murder After Drug Overdose In Rogers

ROGERS, Minn. (WCCO) – A 32-year-old Rogers woman has been charged with two felonies after her 32-year-old boyfriend died of a drug overdose back in February, according to authorities.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office charged Raina Lee Nelson with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in connection with the Feb. 26 incident.

According to police, authorities responded to a home on the 21000 block of Maple Avenue in Rogers on Feb. 26 on a report of a man who wasn't breathing. When authorities arrived, the man was pronounced dead. It was later determined that the man died from an overdose of methadone.

Nelson admitted to police that she had both bought and stolen several doses of the drug, then gave two doses to her boyfriend. She is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
