OAK GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) – A nine-year-old boy is dead after a dirt bike accident in Oak Grove Friday night, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
The Anoka County Dispatch received a call of an injury accident at about 6:55 p.m. on the 19600 block of Dogwood Avenue in Oak Grove.
The Sheriff’s Office says the boy fell and was discovered by another boy. An emergency helicopter was called, but the boy was pronounced dead before it arrived.
The victim was dirt biking on a known trail area at the time of the accident. He was wearing a helmet.
“It appears to be private property and he had permission from the owners to be there. It’s a track that’s been there for a while and had been used for dirt bike riding specifically – with hills and mounds and turrets,” said Anoka County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Pilz.
Authorities are not releasing the boy’s name at this time.
