Minn. Senate GOP Releases Letter On Secret Legal Deal

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A top Republican has bowed to public pressure and released a confidential legal arrangement to defend the Minnesota Senate in a high-level scandal involving the former majority leader.

Current Senate Majority Leader David Senjem released the letter of representation Friday evening. The January letter shows the agreed-upon rate for Minneapolis attorney Dayle Nolan is $330 per hour.

Senjem and others had refused public access to the private attorney's billing plans. But in a statement Friday, Senjem says they decided to release the letter after consulting with the secretary of the Senate and attorneys.

Nolan is handling legal matters related to former leader Amy Koch's extramarital affair with a top aide, who has threatened to sue the Senate over his firing.
