WINONA, Minn. (WCCO) — A 56-year-old man has pleaded guilty to careless driving in the crash that killed a 73-year-old bicyclist in Winona.
On April 13, 2012, Thomas Vincent Weaver and the court settled the day the trial was set to start.
Authorities say 73-year-old Judy Whetstone of Winona was riding her bike near the senior high school Monday when the bus struck her while she was in the bike lane. The Minnesota State Patrol says she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Weaver made too wide of a turn when he struck Whetstone, authorities said.
Weaver’s sentencing has been set for 9 a.m. on May 9, 2012.
