Early this evening, Venus and the crescent moon will be in a nice celestial hug again.
Tonight the crescent moon will be just to upper left of the very bright planet Venus.
The moon is a little less 250,000 miles and Venus is about 45 million miles from our backyards.
By the way, take a look at Venus with a small telescope or even a good pair of binoculars you’ll see that Venus is crescent shaped as well. Both Venus and Mercury that orbit the sun inside the Earth’s orbit go through phase shape changes just like the moon.
