Police: Drunken Driver Flees Cops With Infant Son In His Arms

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis Police say a 32-year-old man is in jail after fleeing police in a SUV with his infant son in his arms – while intoxicated.

On April 22, police responded to a domestic disturbance call on the 3400 block of 6th Street North. The caller told police her husband was trying to take everything from the house and that a grey SUV was involved.

When officers arrived on scene, a grey SUV was observed driving away. Officers tried pulling over the SUV, but the vehicle sped up, ran a stop light and a stop sign. The driver then stopped for the officers several blocks away.

That's when the suspect, who police identify as Dana Mitchell Jordan, emerged from the vehicle with a one-year-old child in his arms.

Mitchell smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and admitted to drinking earlier in the day, according to police. At the scene, Jordan was given a Portable Breath Test and blew a .254 BAC.

Mitchell is in Hennepin County Jail for second-degree DWI.

The mother has been reunited with her child.
