Victim In Fatal Wright Co. Rollover Identified

ST. MICHAEL, Minn. (WCCO) -– The Minnesota State Patrol has released the identities of those involved in Thursday's fatal rollover accident in Wright County.

According to the patrol, the accident happened at about 3:15 p.m. on Highway 101 and County Road 36 in St. Michael.

The patrol said a 2004 Ford Taurus was traveling northbound on Highway 101 as a 1999 Mercedes was merging onto the highway from County Road 36.

The Mercedes sped up to merge, and the Taurus slammed on its breaks as it went from the left lane to the right lane to avoid crashing.

The back end of the Taurus lost control, went back into the left lane and hit the back end of the Mercedes, causing both vehicles to rollover into the ditch.

The driver of the Mercedes -- 49-year-old Stanislav Tarasov of Otsego, Minn. -- was killed in the crash. The driver of the Taurus received minor injuries, according to the patrol. He was identified as 50-year-old Brian Stichter of Princeton, Minn.
