Police: Apple Valley Cop Shoots Man After He Pulls Out Handgun

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An Apple Valley police officer shot a 48-year-old man during an investigation Sunday evening after the man pulled out a handgun, authorities say.

The Apple Valley Police Department says the shooting happened after 5:40 p.m., when officers were called to a domestic dispute at a home on the 13900 block of Herald Court.

When officers arrived at the home, they spoke with two people – one man, one woman. The two had been in a fight, police said.

During the investigation, the man produced a handgun. An officer responded by shooting him.

Paramedics took the man to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Police gave no word on his condition.

No one else was hurt in the shooting, police said.

Apple Valley police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the incident.
