Police: Don't Bring Corkscrews, Nail Clippers Or Brass Knuckles To Court

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office wants people to know the following items (or possible weapons) are not allowed in suburban courts: nail clippers, corkscrews, mace, razor blades, box cutters, pocket knives, forks, brass knuckles, and tweezers.

Last week, the county installed interim weapons screening checkpoints at three court locations: Brookdale, Southdale and Ridgedale. In a week, more than 3,000 people passed through the checkpoints, leaving authorities with 70 possible weapons.

Authorities have increased security in county courts due to recent in-court violence in Minnesota and throughout the country.
