ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings’ push for a new stadium has been temporarily sidelined as state lawmakers work out other issues first.

The team’s $975 million stadium plan was on deck for potential action Monday, as legislators were hoping to finish their work by the end of April.

But by Monday afternoon, leaders conceded they would need to work into May. It likely will be midweek or later before the stadium proposal’s fate is known.

Republican leaders are pressing Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, a stadium booster, for concessions on tax breaks and state-financed construction.

The Vikings say the Metrodome doesn’t provide enough revenue to compete in the NFL. The team is no longer bound by a lease, and Dayton and others fear the franchise could relocate.
