ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Happy 20th birthday to Marco and Erwin, Como Zoo’s resident Galapagos tortoises!

What better way to celebrate the big 2-0 then to enjoy a three-tiered Jell-O mold birthday cake.

Marco and Erwin each devoured a cake made of apples, broccoli, pineapple, Mandarin oranges and green beans.

And the Zoo’s staffers didn’t skimp on the birthday candles. No wax for these fellas – the candles were asparagus.

Weighing in at 300 and 250 pounds respectively, Marco and Erwin have spent most of their lives at the Como Zoo.

They first arrived in 1992.

Galapagos tortoises have a lifespan of around 150 years.
