MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It is the Walleye Opener, but it’s also a great day for the outdoors, anywhere.
That includes the city. We paid a visit to Lake Calhoun. We didn’t find the big boats, but we sure found the fishing spirit.
Jennifer Lusk has been fishing the city lakes since she was a 1-year-old girl. She has caught her share of everything, but on Saturday, she just wanted to be part of the Minnesota Opener.
She had walleye on the mind, but her chances of catching one weren’t too good. But that didn’t stop her.
In fact, most people out in the city just wanted to fish – that is: enjoy the sport on a beautiful day. Because it’s not really about catching a particular fish or being on a big boat, it’s about moving to a place where the pace of live flows a bit differently.
