MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 31-year-old woman from Deer River is accused of stealing more than $5,700 from the DMV she worked at in Grand Rapids over the course of a month late last year, according to charges filed Monday in Itasca County Court.
Crystal Marie Wilson was charged with one felony count of theft by swindle in connection with the case. According to the charge, Wilson was suspected of taking money from motor vehicle title fees from the Grand Rapids Ford dealership that were not processed by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
The thefts happened over a series of several transactions involving motor vehicle title fees, and between November and December of 2011, she stole about $5,700 worth fees while working at the Grand Rapids DMV.
If convicted, Wilson faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
