MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has announced that area beaches are now open, but lifeguards are not on duty until June 9.
The 12 beaches run by the MPRB are located at Harriet, Calhoun, Cedar, Nokomis, Hiawatha and Theodore Wirth lakes.
Beaches are open daily from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m., with lifeguards on duty from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily starting June 9.
The MPRB also operates 65 wading pools and two water parks, all of which will open in early June.
Lifeguards are not available at wading pools, Lake Calhoun North, Cedar South, Lake Harriet Southeast and Lake Hiawatha beaches.
