ROBBINSDALE, Minn. (WCCO) – At least one family is displaced from its residence after an apartment fire in Robbinsdale early Sunday morning.
Fire crews responded to the 3700 block of Bridgeway Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. to a fire in the lower level of an apartment complex. When they arrived, a family of two adults and four children escaped their unit safely. The entire building had to be evacuated as fire crews arrived.
One neighbor of the residence where the fire happened was saved because of an alert apartment manager. Pat Jaeger couldn’t hear the fire alarms, and her manager came knocking on the door to make sure she got out.
“I’ve got hearing aids but I didn’t have them in. My apartment manager came into my bedroom and said to get the hell out of here,” Jaegar said.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The American Red Cross is helping the family who lives in the unit where the fire happened.
