Stillwater Couple Killed In Western Wisconsin Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a couple from Stillwater was killed and two others were hurt after a two-vehicle crash near Prescott, Wis., Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 4:29 p.m. on Highway 35 north of County Road QQ in Pierce County. Authorities say a 2008 Chevy Malibu was driving northbound when it struck a 1994 Chevy Lumina head-on.

Authorities said two people inside the Chevy Malibu were killed, and two people inside the Chevy Lumina were hurt and had to be airlifted to a hospital.

The Wisconsin State Patrol identified the victims from Stillwater as 72-year-old  Richard Erwin Skare and 71-year-old Irene Ruth Skare. Authorities say Richard Skare was not wearing his seat belt, but Irene Skare was.

Authorities said the two occupants of the Lumina, a 51-year-old Prescott, Wis. man and a 53-year-old woman from Hastings, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.
