School: Students Released Pepper Spray In Hallway, Main Office

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two students released pepper spray inside an Apple Valley high school Wednesday, irritating eyes and throats of students and faculty.

In an email to parents, Eastview High School said two students released over-the-counter pepper spray into the school's main office and C2 hallway following an "exceptional" student awards ceremony. Students and faculty began to feel irritation in their eyes and throats around 10 a.m.

There were no "medical injuries," the school said. But Apple Valley firefighters responded to the scene.

The school said the two students involved were immediately identified and reported to Apple Valley police.

The school sent the email to parents at 1 p.m.
