Twin Cities, Southern MN Under Flash Flood Watch

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Get ready for a stretch of wet weather if you live around the Twin Cities or southern Minnesota.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for 32 counties in central, western and southern Minnesota. The watch includes the seven county Twin Cities metro area.

WCCO-TV Meterologist Mike Augustyniak says there will be an increasing chance of rain in the metro through the day, with the heaviest and steadiest rain falling throughout the night and into Thursday.

Many areas are expected to get more than an inch of rain, while some parts of the state could get more than three inches. We'll have a brief dry period on Friday before more chances for scattered showers and storms are possible throughout the weekend.

Make sure those sump pumps are working. They'll probably get some use this weekend.
