Mother, Daughter Who Shared B'Day Die 4 Hours Apart

BAUDETTE, Minn. (AP) -- A mother and daughter who shared a birthday died of natural causes within hours of each other this week at a northern Minnesota nursing home.

As reported by the Bemidji Pioneer, 96-year-old Gladys Streed kissed her daughter one last time Wednesday, then walked four doors down to her room at the LakeWood Health Center in Baudette and died four hours after her daughter, 70-year-old Dianne Dally, had passed away.

The two were both born on Dec. 12.

Dally's son, Miles Carlson, says his mother fought a long battle with cancer. Carlson says his grandmother's death was attributed to complications of pneumonia. But, he says it was clear his grandmother wanted to stick around to look after her daughter.

Carlson says both looked after each other, convinced the other one needed more help.
