ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) — Authorities in suburban Chicago are investigating the death of a 20-year-old Minnesota man who was found unresponsive in a cell at the Kane County jail.
Officials with the Kane County Sheriff’s Department say Keith Renfroe of Cottage Grove, Minn., was in jail on a felony criminal trespassing charge. He was in a cell by himself when a guard found him lying face down and unresponsive.
Authorities say Renfroe died last week after his family asked that he be removed from life support.
The sheriff’s office on Wednesday said investigators are still waiting for autopsy results and toxicology reports.
