MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 61-year-old Clear Lake man was killed Wednesday night after his car plunged into the Elk River Wednesday night in Clear Lake Township, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said a driver passing by noticed the vehicle on its roof in the Elk River partially submerged and called police. The occupant, later identified as Roger Petron, was still in the car at the time. The crash happened near the intersection of 77th Street and County Road 53 in Clear Lake Township.
Authorities said Petron was pronounced dead at the scene. They said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Fire crews from Clear Lake assisted the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
