ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities say a 75-year-old woman died Wednesday when the van she was riding in was rear-ended by a school bus on Interstate 94 in St. Paul.
The multi-vehicle crash happened just before 9:30 a.m. on westbound I-94 near the Cretin Avenue exit. The woman, identified by authorities as Nang Nguyen of Roseville, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in the minivan that was rear-ended by the bus. Five others inside the van were also taken to a hospital for injuries.
An SUV and another car were involved in the crash, with no serious injuries coming from either vehicle. There were no students on the bus when the crash happened. The accident closed two lanes of westbound I-94 between downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis and caused traffic to back up for several hours.
The Minnesota State Patrol is still investigating what led up to the crash.
