16-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Shooting Mpls. Teen

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with Friday night's deadly shooting in south Minneapolis.

Sgt. William Palmer said the teenage suspect was in custody by 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said Friday evening's confrontation on the 2900 block of Bloomington Avenue South left Roosevelt High School sophomore Trequan Sykes with several gunshot wounds.

Sykes later died at Hennepin County Medical Center. According to Roosevelt High School's principal, Sykes played football and basketball, had lots of friends and leaves behind a brother and sister who both attend the same school.

The suspect's name has yet to be released by authorities.
