MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office said Monday it has arrested a 19-year-old Monticello teen in connection with April crash in Big Lake Township that killed two people.
Cody Moen was arrested Monday and booked into the Sherburne County Jail for criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the case.
Authorities responded to a report of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle in April on County Road 17 just south of Highway 10 in Big Lake Township. When authorities arrived, the driver of the motorcycle, Brien Wickham, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Jacquelyn Lee, died later from injuries suffered in the crash.
Investigators say the crash showed Moen was driving in a grossly negligent manner. The county says Moen was driving 95 mph in a 55 mph zone, trying to pass the motorcycle on the right-hand gravel shoulder when he lost control and veered into the southbound lane, hitting the motorcycle, causing the death of Lee and Wickham.
Moen was taken into custody without incident and is in jail pending criminal charges.
