CHISAGO COUNTY (WCCO) — A little girl is dead after drowning in the shallow end of a swimming pool Wednesday, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.
At 5:40 p.m. on the day of the incident, emergency crews responded to an address on Kodiak Avenue in South Chisago Lakes Township on the report of a 14-month-old drowning victim. Upon arrival, the victim was receiving CPR next to an above ground pool by a neighbor, who is a nurse.
Still unresponsive, the toddler was taken to Wyoming ER. She was pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m.
According to Sgt. Steve Pouti of the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s father was outside working while his wife was inside with the children. The mother apparently thought the little girl was upstairs playing with her two older sisters.
The victim drowned in an area of the pool that was approximately three feet deep. She may have be unaccounted for about a half hour, Pouti added.
