City Of Golden Valley Says It's Seeking Firefighters

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – The city of Golden Valley is hosting a Firefighter Recruitment Expo next week in hopes of adding to its force, officials announced Thursday.

The event will be on Thursday, June 14 , from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Golden Valley Fire Station on 7800 Golden Valley Road.  Those interested in participating will get a chance to try on gear, attempt firefighting skills, watch a live burn and take part in a jaws of life demonstation.

Current firefighters with the city will also be on hand to talk about how they balance working for the fire department with having day jobs and families. Being a firefighter with the city of Golden Valley is a volunteer position.

The city will also host two recruitment information meetings on Thursday, June 28 at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. City officials said to be a firefighter in Golden Valley, one must live or work within six minutes of a fire station and be at least 18 years old. You should also be in good physical condition and have a clean driving and criminal background.
