MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Road construction is going to cause some major headaches after 10 p.m. Friday, when all eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 close as crews lay pavement between Highway 55/Hiawatha Avenue and Highway 280 in Minneapolis.
But that’s not the only road closed for construction.
Interstate 35W in Arden Hills will also be closing at 10 p.m. (in both directions) between Interstate 694 and Highway 10, so crews can demolish the old County 10 Bridge.
Kirsten Klein, a MnDOT spokesperson, said motorists should plan to be patient.
“Always planning ahead is a good idea,” she said. “You’re going to have a little bit of a delay, because you’re going to find some detours.”
Detours
I-94: Take northbound I-35W to eastbound Highway 36. Then ride south on I-35E and go east on I-94. MnDOT said the ramp connecting eastbound I-94 to southbound I-35W will be open, but traffic will be reduced to a single lane before the Lowry Tunnel. Expect delays.
35W: Use I-694, Highway 252 and Highway 10.
