DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition after nearly drowning in Lake Superior on Monday afternoon.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was swimming with a group for about 20 minutes before he went under the water and didn’t resurface.
At 4:17 p.m., members of the Duluth Fire Department recovered the boy near Uncle Harvey’s Mausoleum by the boardwalk.
He was taken to a Duluth hospital where he is in critical condition. The incident is still under investigation.
