MPRB: Lake Harriet Beach Reopened After Bacteria Test
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A beach on Lake Harriet reopened Thursday after being temporarily closed after levels of E. coli bacteria exceeding state guidelines were found in the water earlier this week.
The lake's southeast beach closed on Tuesday after testing found that E. coli bacteria exceeded state guidelines for a single day, according to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. But testing of the waters Wednesday revealed that bacteria levels were actually "well below" state guidelines.
The board said the high levels of bacteria found Tuesday were likely due to the weekend's heavy rains and the recent warm weather.
