Semifinals Set In Class A, AA State Baseball

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Despite a wild weather day on Thursday, the Class A and AA State Baseball Tournaments went on as scheduled at Athletic Park in Chaska and Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud.

The same can't be said for the Class AAA State Tournament. All the games at Midway Stadium were postponed because of the heavy rain and rescheduled for Friday.

In Class A action, Browerville shut out Kenyon-Wanamingo 1-0, Lac qui Parle Valley topped Ely 2-1, Blackduck beat BOLD 4-2 and St. Agnes shut out previously undefeated New York Mills 1-0. In Friday's semifinal action, Browerville will face Lac qui Parle Valley at 12 p.m. in Chaska. Blackduck will face St. Agnes following that game.

In Class AA action, Holy Family Catholic shut out Cannon Falls 8-0. Fairmont edged Roseau 3-2, Proctor shut out previously unbeaten Minneapolis Washburn 1-0 and St. Cloud Cathedral beat Delano 5-0. In Friday's semifinals, Holy Family Catholic will face Fairmont at 12 p.m. in St. Cloud. Proctor will face St. Cloud Cathedra following that game.

The Class AAA bracket has added a location to allow for quarterfinals and semifinals to be played Friday. Hopkins will face Eden Prairie at 10 a.m. at Midway Stadium. At the same time, Hill-Murray is facing Bemidji at Dunning Field in St. Paul.

Red Wing will battle Eastview at 12:30 p.m. at Midway Stadium, and Totino-Grace will play Grand Rapids at Dunning Field. The semifinal games will be played at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Midway Stadium.

All teams advancing to state championship games will play at Target Field on Monday, weather permitting.
