OTTER TAIL COUNTY (WCCO) — Authorities now suspect foul play in the death of a man whose body was found in the Otter Tail River.
On Friday at 7:35 p.m., the Otter Tail Sheriff’s Office was notified that a body was in the Otter Tail River west of Orwell Dam. Recreational swimmers and tubers spotted the body, which was recovered by the Sheriff’s Office personnel.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, positive identification of the body has not been completed, but clothing, gender and physical descriptors are similar to those of the person of Scott Burris, who was reported missing on May 24.
Burris was last seen in Fergus Falls on May 22. His vehicle was found abandoned on the same day in a rural area north of Elixabeth, which is approximately 15 miles from the part of the river Burris’ body was discovered.
The investigation into the cause of death is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Otter Tail Sheriff’s Office at 218-998-8555.
