Working For The Weekend: Pride, Back To The 50s, Water Ski Days
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It’s almost the weekend, and that means it’s time for you to cut loose and have some fun. Here are some events for you to add to your social calendar.
Back To The 50s Car Show
This weekend, the Minnesota Street Rod Association hosts its “Back to the 50s Weekend” at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. There will be more than 11,000 street rods, customs, classics and restored vehicles all dating from 1964 and earlier.
Tickest are $10. Kids 12 and under are free with each paid adult. It gets underway Friday and goes through Sunday.
Twin Cities Pride Festival
The Twin Cities Pride Festival starts Saturday. It’s one of the largest GLBT pride celebrations in the United States. Events are all over Minneapolis, but the center of it all is Loring Park.
The Pride parade is Sunday. It travels along Hennepin Avenue downtown Minneapolis.
Lake City Water Ski Days
Strap on your water skis, it’s Water Ski Days in Lake City all weekend. Head to Lake Pepin for festivities honoring the birthplace of water skiing, right here in Minnesota. There will be a beer tent, carnival rides and of course, a water ski show.
Walker Art Center Open Field
This Saturday also marks the opening of the Walker Art Center’s Open Field, where the grassy hill on the museum’s north side becomes a park, coffee shop, school and even a bar and restaurant.
There is also free wireless access, so enjoy the scenery and the set up, all for free.
