Firefighters Carnival Takes Over Gillette Children's Hospital
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It was carnival time Wednesday at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul.
In fact, it's the 53rd year for this festival, put on by St. Paul Firefighters Local 21.
The first responders provided games and treats for the kids, and the patients who stayed in their rooms had the party brought to them.
"We have half-pint ponies that you can pet," said Bill Lee, of St. Paul Firefighters Local 21. "We have sand art, we have button making, we have Miss Minnesota and Minnesota Viking cheerleaders."
The carnival was set up in the hospital parking ramp, so it would be accessible for the kids.
One more thing about the firefighters carnival: all the siblings of the patients were also invited.
