CAMBRIDGE, Minn. (WCCO) — Three people have been arrested after a two-month-long undercover investigation seized 24 pounds of khat in Cambridge, Minn., according to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday at 9:06 a.m., the East Central Drug/Violent Offender Task Force executed a search warrant after an investigation found shipping records showing that 380 pounds of suspected khat had been delivered to Cambridge, Minn. since May 1, 2012.
Three people were arrested as a result of the investigation. They are currently at the Isanti County Jail awaiting formal charges.
Khat is a leafy stimulant known on the streets for giving a high like methamphetamine when chewed. Khat contains cathinone, which is a controlled substance under state law.
