Duluth Beach Sees 2 Water Emergencies In 4 Hours

DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – Emergency personnel responded to two separate water emergency calls on Lake Superior Monday at Tot Lot Beach on Duluth's Park Point.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the water emergencies involved four swimmers in distress, and one would-be rescuer in distress. One incident was reported around 11:30 a.m., and the second around 4 p.m.

All involved were helped to shore by bystanders. One adult female was taken to an area hospital.

The Duluth Fire Department, Duluth Police, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department, the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the emergencies.
