July’s featured veteran is Charlie Roberts, who was a Corporal in the Marine Corps, serving with 3rd Recon Battalion in Okinawa, Japan where he conducted special operations throughout Asia.
Charlie Roberts was born in 1969 and raised in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Roberts joined the Marine Corps right out of high school in 1988. He was stationed in Okinawa where he served most of his tour with the 3rd Recon Battalion Special Operations. In the Phillippines, Roberts shattered his legs during a night parachute operation and he was honorably discharged. Once out of the military, Roberts became an ironworker and is currently the Business Manager of Iron Workers Local Union No. 512. He lives in Lakeville with his two children Seth and Marie Roberts.
