ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota’s tax collectors are waiving their deadlines for northeastern Minnesota businesses affected by flooding.

The Revenue Department said Monday that it won’t charge late penalties or interest for monthly sales tax returns and other business taxes filed by Aug. 30.

The waiver applies to businesses and individuals in St. Louis and Carlton counties, where Duluth, Moose Lake, Barnum and other communities were severely flooded last month.

Revenue Commissioner Myron Frans says those affected by the storms have “much more to worry about” than tax deadlines.
