MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in Stearns County had to rescue a 16-year-old girl Tuesday afternoon from a lake after she lost consciousness while in the water.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at about 3:59 p.m. Tuesday on the south end of Big Watab Lake in Collegeville Township. When authorities arrived, the girl was unconscious and not breathing.
Authorities learned she had been swimming in the lake when she hit her head on a pontoon, causing her to lose consciousness. Several people had to help pull the girl from the lake, and she was immediately taken to the St. Cloud Hospital.
Authorities said as of Tuesday night she was in stable condition and able to speak with deputies.
