13-Year-Old Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Hit By Car
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the bicyclist, Tony Gatz, of Brooklyn Park, was hit on 10 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 252 near 73rd Avenue North. The State Patrol says alcohol was not a factor.
Police say a 2003 Toyota Corolla, driven by Mursal Gurey, 41, of Brooklyn Park, was driving northbound on Highway 252 when the bicyclist crossed the intersection and was hit.
According to preliminary information obtained from witnesses, the State Patrol said the car had a green light and that the bicyclist was crossing against a red light and was wearing dark clothing.
The Brooklyn Park Police Department assisted at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
