Missing Oak Grove Boy Released From Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 5-year-old boy who was found safe after an exhaustive search has been released from the Children's Hospital in St. Paul on Thursday.

A volunteer with a dog found Scotty Meyer Wednesday morning. It was about 20 hours after he wandered away from his home in Oak Grove, Wisconsin.

He was sunburned and dehydrated, but otherwise OK.

He's been recovering at Children's Hospital in St. Paul, where his mother said he had more bug bites than she's ever seen.

He's still recovering from dehydration due to the heat but should make a full recovery.

His mother wrote online that he was covered in deer ticks when he was found.

The 5-year-old was found in a very grassy area on the edge of a bluff.

Scotty's mom says more than 30 tiny ticks have been removed so far but he'll be sedated so hospital staff can get the rest.

Scotty's aunt says his parents have been through a lot in the past 48 hours.

"They're just happy that he's eating and drinking and they're just ready to get him home," she said.
